hepthesis — a LaTeX class for PhD theses

hepthesis is a LaTeX class developed for writing PhD theses. In particular, it was originally written for my PhD thesis in particle physics and has since been somewhat tweaked. Things that hepthesis can do for you include:

  • "Semantic" commands for title pages, preface, etc.
  • Automatic inclusion of lots of things that you "should" want to use :-)
  • Auto-centered figures etc.
  • Macros for chapter and thesis quotes
  • Pretty default margins, for binding, screen-viewing etc.
  • Draft mode with line numbering
  • Maths in section titles goes bold where appropriate. And only where it's appropriate...
  • Automatic (but optional) hyperlinking of PDF output
  • Titles can (easily) either be serif or sans-serif
  • Makes toast, finds missing socks, etc.

Getting hepthesis

The most recent official version of hepthesis (v1.3) can be obtained from CTAN: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/hepthesis.html. The documentation for the official version can also be obtained from there.
