i just wanna flick your soul

Me, South Park style

Let's get this over and done with: my name is Andy Buckley, as a day job I'm a particle physicist in Durham, and I'm actually reasonably normal, or at least think that I am.

I moved from Belfast to Cambridge (the UK one) in 1997 to do a degree in physics at the rather well-known university. I'm very fond of Cambridge: in the end I stayed there for 8 years, picked up 3 degrees (all in physics, I'm afraid) and a wonderful girlfriend. We then moved to Durham, where I now work in the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology and Jo is studying for a PhD in the music department. The particular project I work on is related to computer simulations of particle physics and is called CEDAR.

Aside from work, I've been interested in computing, liberal politics ( NO2ID, CAAT, Conscience and the like), design and architecture, climbing, student radio and anything (predominantly pop-)musical, to name but a few interests. If you still have no clue who I am, then perhaps a list of people I idolise will help. But probably not.

andybuckley's Last.fm Weekly Artists Chart

In the event that you might be interested in my taste in music and films, here are a couple of pages detailing my collections of albums — CD and 7" singles will be added sometime — and films. You might also be interested in my favourite songs or my wishlist of music I'd like to get. My memory is awful and I like lists. A cross-section of what I've been listening to on my computer recently is available in the form of my Audioscrobbler/last.fm profile. This only records the music I listen to on my computer at home (my copy of Rhythmbox at work is too old to do last.fm submissions, bah). My weekly artists chart is visible to the right:

Finally, I've got a scrounging list of things that I want/ would-like-to-have in case you're feeling generous, or know someone who is!
